My Big Red Book

Well hello there! In a post a while back (see it here), I mentioned that I was going to introduce you guys to a binder that I have full of tear-outs from magazines.

Finally, I'm doing that! Let my start off by explaining what it is:

This binder is something that I started filling up a few years ago with ads that caught my eye. Then, I started adding in articles on celebrities that I like. After a while, it was full of everything from ads to recipes. Simply put, this is a book of fancies. Anything that I like goes in the book. It is super full now--bigger than an average magazine! Here it is:

Nice and simple.

So here are a few of the pages I thought I'd show you guys...

Marie Claire does this awesome section every issue that is photos of everyday women, along with quotes from them about what they like about themselves. I always put these in my binder, because it is so important for us to find things that we love about ourselves! I love that MC does this. The next picture is of Busy Phillips--I love her. I first saw her in Freaks and Geeks with James Franco and Jason Segel and Seth Rogen, and now she stars in Cougar Town with Courtney Cox! Love her.

The first picture is of an ad that I pulled a while ago. I forgot what the ad is actually for, but this photo is GORGEOUS. It has a very Jane Eyre-esque quality to it. So pretty! The next ad is for Ray-Ban (as you can see), and I think it is so cute. I think that is Nick Jonas, who I love to death, although I can't stand the Jonas Brothers. Go figure.

I am obsessed with the 20s and 30s, and so when The Artist came out, I was dying to see it (I still haven't). I love this old-fashioned black and white ad. The next picture is of an interview that Elle did with Sebastian Stan. I just love him. So. That's why that's in there. :)

Anyways, there are plenty more where those came from, so I might do posts similar to this in the future. I hope you like it!

xoxo,

**UPDATE**
Okay, I have searched the internet high and low to find ANYTHING saying who the people are in the ray-ban 75 years ad campaign, but no luck. So, yes, I think the dude in the photo above is Nicky J, but honestly I've got not clue. Anyone know anything about this?

YOU!

Good morning, everyone!

I recently wrote a post all about myself so that my readers would feel like they knew me better. Now, it is your turn! I want to know who my readers are! I know that there is a wide range of you guys, because I can see the places that people view my blog from. Yes, the vast majority are from the U.S., but I also see the U.K., France, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Denmark...the list goes on!

So here is what I'm asking: please leave a comment telling me where you are from, how you found my blog, and just fun facts about yourself! Don't be shy! This blog is seriously lacking in comments anyways. :)

Thanks, guys! Can't wait to hear from you!

Werk!

So, I love working out. However, my ADD often negates any desire to sweat--either I get bored during the first 5 minutes of my workout or I get distracted before I even start.

But this workout is super fun and intense--and it doesn't get boring!

Here's how it works:

We all know nowadays that combining cardio with strength training is the golden standard of fitness. Ideally, we should all be getting a solid hour of uninterrupted cardio a day. However, it is also a known fact that interval training is arguably the best way to strengthen your heart and burn fat. So, no, this workout does not take an hour to do (who has the attention span for that?), but it does work your heart like no other.

Let's get to it!

1. 1 minute of jumping rope (try to keep it fast)
2. 10 pushups (CHEST TO THE FLOOR!)
3. 20 mountain climbers (this video helps explain)
4. 30 crunches
5. 30 twisted crunches (30 each side)
6. 30 toe touches
7. 3 minutes of jumping rope
8. 20 squats
9. 20 lunges (20 each side)
10. 10 burpees

Rest between each step if you need to, but try to keep moving as much as possible.

Enjoy!

Playin' with Color!

Hey everyone! This morning, I had some free time and decided to do a makeup tutorial!

Now, let me say: I am by NO MEANS a makeup expert. Far from, in fact. But I just like to play around like any other girl, and I thought, why not share it with you guys?

A few months ago, I bought an E.L.F eyeshadow palette. I have to say, I wasn't expecting much, but I have really enjoyed it! I have found that I don't need to use a primer underneath, but then again, I haven't spent much time in the heat with eyeshadow on, so I don't know if that will hold true for everyone. Also, I have really dry eyelids (I don't even know).

So, here is the first look I did:

I used an almost greenish yellow, a bright pink, and a dark brown. (You can see them circled if you click on the picture.)

The yellow was applied to the inner half of my eye, and the pink covered the outer half. I layered the brown over the pink on the outer third of my eyelid and filled in the crease with that same color. For eyeliner, I used a liquid brown and then applied mascara. Right now, I'm loving the Almay Get Up And Grow mascara.

This is the second look I did:

For this one, I used a dark purple, a dark green, and a silvery grey.

I started by applying the purple to the inner 2/3 of my eyelid, then filling in the rest with the dark green and blending the two together. After that, I used the grey color to accent the outer corner of my eye and the crease. I finished by applying a tiny amount of black eyeliner (Rimmel) and the same Almay mascara.

I hope you like them and can draw some sort of inspiration from them! Feel free to leave any advice or questions in the comments.

Update and "Interview"

Hey everyone! I have to apologize for being MIA lately. In addition to starting a new job, I have been consumed with a number of social events--which reminds me: you know so little about me!

Now, I am one of those people who is convinced that sharing too much information on the internet will inevitably lead to my gruesome and painful demise. However, I have done some thinking and I realized that I have limited myself on this blog by not sharing certain details with you. So, first off, let me explain the "social events" thing.

I just graduated from high school--that's why I went out of town (senior trip) and why I have been so busy in general. Yes, I'm young. Hopefully, that won't change the way any of you view my blog!

So, in an attempt to make myself more "known" to you, I have found one of those youtube tags and turned into a blog post. Here are a bunch of random questions and answers about me!

1. What is a nickname only your family calls you?
This is hard--there isn't a lot you can do with the name Neena. I suppose that I am called Boo by my mom, Neenash by my dad, and Neen by my sister. That's about it.

2. What is a weird habit that you have?
I play with my hair obsessively--cutting/breaking split ends, smoothing (or attempting to smooth) frizzies...I guess it isn't that weird, but it is all I can think of. :/

3. Do you have any weird phobias?
I am terrified of infinity. I can't explain why, but the idea of anything going on and on and on and on and on and on and on (you get the picture) FREAKS MY BEAN.

4. What is a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you are alone?
Unfaithful by Rihanna. Or Bound to You by Christina Aguilera. Or And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going from Dreamgirls. There are a lot of go-tos for me, but those three occur practically daily. I'm not saying I sing them well, mind you, I just sing them a lot. And loudly.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Interrupting. Its like, really? I'm that insignificant to you? Okay fine, you can talk to yourself, ya ding-dong.

6. What is one of your nervous habits?
Again, playing with my hair...it's bad.

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
The side closest to the door.

8. What was your first stuffed animal and it's name?
I know I had many before this, but I remember a stuffed beagle named Cud-a-lee  that I got from my friend on my 6th birthday. Ironically, I now have a live beagle sitting on my bed.

See? There he is. Meet Buddie!

9. What drink do you always order at Starbucks?
A tall caramel frappuccino.

10. What is a beauty rule you preach but never actually practice?
Probably hydration. Everyone knows how important hydration is for your skin, but I often find myself super-dehydrated. Lately, though, I've been working on that :)

11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Um...Northeast?

12. Do you have any weird body skills?
I can bend my big toe in a weird way...Also I am loosely jointed so I guess I am pretty limber?

13. What is your favorite comfort food?
I love my chocolate. I can't get enough. A little (a lot) of chocolate makes everything better.

14. What is a phrase or exclamation you always say?
Holy crap.

15. What do you wear for pajamas?
A T-shirt and PJ pants.

16. What did you used to wear that you thought was cool but now you realize it wasn't that hot?
I went through a phase in elementary school in which I loved bell-bottomed jeans...I somehow thought they compensated for my chicken legs....

So, there you have it! 16 semi-interesting facts about me. I hope you enjoyed!

Here is the video I got the questions from:

I LOVE MICHAEL BUCKLEY!
